そもそも、名詞と副詞、とは？
名詞=物の名前
副詞=場所、時、頻度
関係代名詞と関係副詞の前に、理解しなければならないのは下記の違い。
I go shopping.
I go to the office.
shoppingは名詞。
officeも名詞。
だけど、"to the office"で場所を表す『副詞句』となる。
次は下記を比べてみよう。
I go to the office.
I go there.
thereは場所を表す副詞。
名詞を用いて表現するなら"to it"ということになる。
つまり、"to 場所"は『副詞句』ということである。
toが要らない、場所を表す語は、
home / here / there / abroad / oversea
などである。
もちろん、これらは全て副詞である。
つまり、これらの副詞や副詞句（"to +場所を表す名詞"）を用いる関係節に使えるのが関係副詞、というわけだ。
<関係副詞を用いた文>
This is the supermarket where I often go.
→ This is the supermarket. +I often go there(=to the supermarket).
<関係代名詞を用いた文>
This is the supermarket which I often visit.
→ This is the supermarket. + I often visit it(=the supermarket).
なので、場所だからwhereと考えるのは間違い。
判断のポイントは動詞が他動詞か自動詞かである。
goは自動詞。
後に直接目的語を置かないので、副詞や副詞句を置く。
visitは他動詞。
後に直接目的語である名詞を置く。
これが、関係代名詞と関係副詞の違いとなる。
